AgGaS2 - Silver Thiogallate
Advantages of AgGaS2:
A wider tranparency
range (a short-wave transmission edge at 0.46 and 0.60 µm respectively)
A lower threshold for parametric oscillation (10W as
compared to several hundred watts for proustite)
A higher optical damage threshold (40% for surface
and approximately 20 times for volume at 1.06µm pumping)
A significantly lower temperature dependence of
refractive indices which permits operation at higher power
densities without self-focusing, resolution/efficiency decrease
and phase matching losses
